Disagreeing with Jesus

“I have to disagree with Jesus!” a South Asian professing Christian protested. We had just read our Savior’s words in Luke 14:26, “If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple.” Thankfully, by the end of our study together, this dear international friend (and others) seemed to understand Jesus’ demand for his followers’ supreme allegiance!

These are the kinds of conversations the Spirit orchestrates around tables at “Dinner & Discussion.” Each week at University of Delaware 70 to 80 participants have been coming to learn how Jesus used stories to teach about the Kingdom of God. The vast majority of our global guests first arrive with little or no understanding of the gospel.
